Nicotine is a very powerful addiction, and some research suggests that it is as addictive as heroin, cocaine or alcohol. Most smokers attempt to quit three times or more before kicking the habit for good. Acupuncture and other natural stop smoking methods are alternative approaches to quit smoking and acupuncture for smoking cessation has been becoming more and more popular. In fact, acupuncture treatment is often court mandated for drug addicts due to its ability to reduce cravings and alleviate withdrawal symptoms.

Dr. Klearman can help you successfully quit smoking permanently by developing a quit smoking program especially designed for each patient based on the patient history, which may include acupuncture treatments, quit smoking herbs and/or other natural supplements to help stop smoking, a new or different exercise regimen, a recommended diet containing minerals and nutrients that promote body alkalinity and decrease cravings, and lifestyle counseling. Some or all of these methods can control cravings, reduce irritability and help reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

How Does Acupuncture to Quit Smoking Work?
The acupuncture treatments focus on all the symptoms that people commonly complain about when they quit including irritability, restlessness, cravings and jitters. In addition, it assists with patient relaxation and detoxification.

Dr. Klearman employs a behavior modification technique, which helps to break all of the habits that are associated with smoking. Smoking is more than just one bad habit, it typically consists of twenty or more habits that all need to be broken in addition to the nicotine itself. The behavior modification treatments consist of 5 short weekly visits, culminating in the ‘Day of Freedom’. This date signifies the quit date. At this time, acupuncture treatment is for one or two sessions a week. A typical stop smoking program will consist of 4-6 initial acupuncture treatments scheduled in the first few weeks followed by monthly treatments for four to six months. When you are ready to begin living a smoke-free, healthier life, contact Dr. Klearman to schedule your consultation to quit smoking for good!
